More than half of the global population already live in urban areas and this will further increase. In urban regions all aspects of (un)sustainable living are magnified. A growing number of mega-cities combine extreme poverty for large groups and hedonistic prosperity for small elites just around the corner. Simultaneously we see a growing number of examples of how smart planning and development can create solutions.

Working Groups are:
4a Sustainable and Healthy Cities: urban development, health risks and spatial planning
4b Sustainable architecture & infrastructure
4c Sustainable transportation: planning for alternatives to fossil fuel intensive travel modes, sustainable mobility
