Professor Simon Lockrey is Program Leader of the REDUCE Program within the End Food Waste CRC, a national AU$121 million research and development initiative aiming to halve food loss and waste by 2030.
His research leadership spans life cycle assessment, design innovation, green marketing, resource efficiency, food waste reduction, and the circular economy. He has led externally engaged research programs with industry partners including Chep, Visy, Nestlé, Lendlease, and Breville, as well as government departments and NGOs, generating millions of dollars in industry-facing research with global policy, commercial, and media impact.
Professor Lockrey’s professional practice in design, engineering, and management spans packaging, appliances, furniture, hardware, and consumer products. Since 2000, he has contributed to over 100 commercial projects for organisations including Dyson, Whirlpool, Henkel, Schiavello, and Glowpear, resulting in the creation of significant intellectual property and commercial value.
At board level, he is a former Secretary of the International Sustainable Development Research Society, Vice President of Automotive Historians Australia, former Executive Director of Glowpear, and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
