Goals and objectives of the track
The concepts of sustainable development, health and well-being are strictly interconnected and, due to their multidimensionality, they have to be necessarily accounted for the interaction between society, economy and the biophysical environment.
This track will focus on human health/well-being and sustainability as well as their intersections examined from various perspectives: not only the natural/physical sciences but also the sociological ones.
The track is open to a wide range of methodological and theoretical approaches and welcomes contributions from across the spectrum of science. The ultimate goal is to constitute a body of work that examines the issues using a broad range of lenses.

In summary, the aim of the track is:

  • To draw up the current state of the art of theories, methods, indicators and strategies in order to assess and measure health and well-being conditions within sustainable development.
  • To present case and other empirical studies on the topic, at local, national and global level, regarding policies, products and business enterprises.

Papers at a micro, meso or meta scale, as well as contributions referred to various production processes/sectors are welcome.

The relation between human health and well-being and sustainability aspects could be tackled trough assessment methods and indicator frameworks such as: Risk Assessment methods and procedures, Social Footprint, Social Impact Assessment, Environmental Life Cycle Assessment, Social Life Cycle Assessment, Indicators Systems (OECD Better Life Indicators), Composite Indices - Genuine Progress Indicator (GPI), Genuine Savings (GS), Human Development Index (HDI), etc.
