Goals and objectives of the track
The indiscriminate use of natural resources, perpetrated over the years, conducts today to attention the concept of a sustainable development. In particular, the aquatic ecosystems are affected by several problems related mainly to human activities. Just for example, the traditional and innovative anthropogenic and industrial activities produce coastal and water pollution, the pressure of fishing leads to the indiscriminate use of natural fish resources, sea traffic and climate changes encourage the introduction of alien species, and all of these result in a drastic loss of biodiversity and a strong impairment of environmental balance.
The main scope of this track is to focus on the potential applications of scientific knowledge to improve, implement and plan a correct management of the "below water" natural resources. The topics of this track are:
- New tools of biomonitoring and recovery strategy of aquatic ecosystems
- Sustainable fishing and aquaculture
- Blue economy, including the blue biotechnologies, the marine renewable energy, the maritime transport and coastal tourism
- Strategy of Sustainable Development of the sea
